There's a famous Taiwanese song about the beautiful girls in AliShan... The train up to AliShan was a steep climb. It was raining & at one part, the train slid down the track for a few hundred metres.

I stayed in a basic dormitory, and was the only occupant for the entire dormitory that night! Woke up at 3am to walk up the mountain to see the sun rise which was just ordinary. The girls too. |
Visited Chiayi, Taichung as well with 12-year-old Ming as he wanted to visit his cousins. Chiayi is a quiet little town & people travelled in little scooters. Ming's aunt came to the train station to pick us up. She's a petite housewife whereas Ming & I are miniature Sumo wrestlers so it was a feat for us 3 to get on that scooter. Ming's cousin brought me around Chiayi. The most memorable was the tranquil reservoir. On another occasion, I joined a company on its incentive outing. It was a trip lasting 3 days visiting central part of Taiwan. The employees were treated more like family members, and they readily accepted me too. |
The trip took up to higher grounds and also to glorious mountaineous grassland & waterfalls. XiaoChiu & her nieces/nephews were very attached to me. Part of it being their fascination that I am bilingual. |
